So since taking a long break from my sunbursts, as mentioned in my previous post, I have returned to the bursts of happiness. I made a whole lot more of them, not as many as the first time but quite a lot (see below).
I have started joining up some strips as you can see above. That is a pic of me snuggled under the blanket whilst joining up strips 🙂 Happy! 🙂
The blanket is so big now that it was easiest for me to spread it out on my floor (which I did clean carefully before!) and stand on a chair to look at it all laid out so I could arrange the next few rows of brightness.
This is one of my favourite parts of blanket making, seeing it come together as a whole 🙂
As you will see below, I have 6 leftover squares that will form the next row that I make. Once I have joined all the squares below, my blanket will still not be finished as I want it to be as long and as wide as a double bed. After joining all the below, it will be wide enough but not long enough, so there will be more sunbursting required!
I have joined two rows and started the third, the rest are in numbered piles so I can join them in order when ready. Sometimes the piles fall over and I have to check the photo above to make sure that I am doing them in the right sequence. If I get them mixed up then I might accidentally put two squares with the same outer circle colour side by side, which is not what I want to happen. It would not look terrible, but I want a spread of colour throughout the blanket instead of pools of colour in one area, like with what has happened when I took a picture of rows three and four below.
My hope is that it will not take me another three years to complete the blanket, which I started in 2014! But perhaps just another year to make it the size of a double bed, maybe in time for when I move into my own home, which could be within the next year.
I will keep you updated on my progress 🙂
